What Macy's Announced for the 2026 Holiday Season

Macy's, Inc. spelled out its plans in a holiday hiring announcement. The company is filling seasonal store and supply chain roles, with in-person hiring days on September 24, October 22 and November 19. Store roles are part-time, and Macy's says event times vary from store to store.

Here's the straight version. Macy's named 10 top hiring markets for its own stores this year, and Chicago made the list while Indianapolis didn't. The hiring day still runs at stores nationwide, both Indy-area locations included, but Macy's hasn't published a headcount for either one. Go in treating October 22 as a solid shot at a holiday job, not a guaranteed offer.

Macy's hasn't released a single pay rate. It says every posting lists its own pay range, so read the number before you apply. The announcement also names a colleague discount, a 401(k), medical, dental and vision coverage based on eligibility, and access to earned wages before payday.

🗺️ Two Stores, Two Ends of the Metro

Castleton Square. The northeast side store sits on East 82nd Street, near where I-69 meets I-465. It's the easy pick for Castleton, Lawrence, Geist and anyone coming down from Fishers.

Greenwood Park Mall. The south side store anchors the mall on US 31 in Greenwood, a short hop over County Line Road from Perry Township. It works for Southport, Beech Grove, Franklin Township and the rest of Johnson County.

Different Day, Different Event: More Hiring This Month

Want year-round work rather than a holiday shift? The very next day, Friday, October 23, WorkOne Indy hosts a transportation hiring event for CDL and delivery drivers. Different event, different employers, different requirements. Our fall Indianapolis job fairs guide lists the rest of the season, including general job fairs on November 4 and November 12.

📋 How to Show Up Ready on Oct. 22

Call your store first. Hours vary by location, and the two stores may not match.
Apply online before you go. Having an application already in the system saves time at the store.
Bring photo ID. If you're hired, you'll complete work-authorization paperwork.
Know your real availability. Evenings, weekends and the days around Thanksgiving are what holiday retail runs on.
