This is the one to build a habit around. WorkOne Indy, the city's public workforce center on the east side near I-70, runs a walk-in hiring event every Wednesday — no appointment, no registration, no cost. The employer lineup rotates week to week and has recently included logistics carriers, driver-training programs, retailers and even military recruiters, so it's worth checking back even if one Wednesday's mix isn't your field.

Indianapolis Job Fair — Thursday, September 17

11:00 AM – 2:00 PM | Holiday Inn Indianapolis Carmel, an IHG Hotel, 251 Pennsylvania Pkwy, Carmel, IN 46280

This event has passed.

Best Hire Career Fairs ran this one just north of the Indianapolis line in Carmel, about a 20-minute drive up Keystone Parkway or US-31 from downtown. It was free for job seekers and open to everyone from first-time applicants to experienced professionals. Best Hire returns to the same hotel on November 12, below.

Good Wages Initiative Hiring Event — Friday, September 18

This event has passed.

This one was a step up from a standard job fair. EmployIndy and WorkOne Indy built it specifically around employers who committed in advance to paying at least $18 an hour with employer-sponsored health insurance included. It was open to the public with no registration required, at the same address as the weekly Wednesday event but with a different, more selective employer roster.

Macy's Holiday Hiring Day — Thursday, October 22

Macy's national holiday hiring day runs at both Indy-area stores: Castleton Square on East 82nd Street near I-69 and I-465, the pick for Lawrence, Geist and Fishers, and Greenwood Park Mall on US 31, a short hop over County Line Road for Southport, Beech Grove and Johnson County. Walk in and apply for seasonal part-time store work; there is no registration, and you can apply ahead at macysJOBS. Indianapolis calls itself the Crossroads of America for a reason — four interstates converge here, and the city is home to one of FedEx's largest air cargo hubs in the world. 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM | Wyndham Indianapolis Airport, 2544 Executive Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46241

JobNewsUSA brings a multi-industry fair to the southwest side, in the Park Fletcher area near the airport, with free admission and free parking. The organizer bills it as a place for on-the-spot interviews and offers, so treat every table as a first-round screen. The employer list posts on the Friday before, October 30, and the organizer notes that dates and locations can change up to 15 business days out, so check the event page and register there before you go. Some listings call the hotel the Wyndham Indianapolis West; it's the same building on Executive Drive.
