SHPE National Convention Brings a STEM Career Fair to Indianapolis Oct. 28-31
INDIANAPOLIS, IN — A major national STEM recruiting event lands downtown this week. The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers brings its national convention and career fair to the Indiana Convention Center Wednesday through Saturday, Oct. 28–31, with organizers expecting nearly 10,000 students, engineers, academics and recruiters. For Indy engineering students and working professionals, it is a rare chance to meet national employers without leaving Marion County. The catch: it is a paid, registered convention, not a walk-in job fair.
A two-day STEM career fair is part of the SHPE convention at 100 S. Capitol Ave. Registration is still open, at late rates, and onsite registration opens Wednesday at 6 a.m.

💼 What the SHPE Career Fair Offers Indianapolis Job Seekers
SHPE's convention is built around hiring. Techpoint reported that the career fair runs two days, with about 150 employers recruiting for internships and full-time jobs, and named Amazon, Apple, Bank of America, Honeywell Aerospace and Wells Fargo among the participating companies. Columbus-based Cummins and Purdue University are supporting the convention as Indiana partners.
SHPE says it expects more than 250 exhibitors overall, a figure that covers sponsors, universities and booths beyond the hiring floor.
Membership is not required. SHPE's registration page lists a non-member rate alongside student, professional and advisor rates.

A Free Saturday for Families
SHPE is opening part of the convention to the public for the first time. STEM Familia Fest runs Saturday, Oct. 31, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Convention Center and is free. It is aimed at K–12 students and parents, with hands-on science, a college fair and a parent session on STEM education and career paths. It is not a job fair, but it is a good way for a teenager in Lawrence or Wayne Township to see where an engineering degree leads.
